Meindert Griek was born in 1878.1 He married Pietertje Mastenbroek on 22 January 1908 in Rotterdam, Zuid Holland, The Netherlands.1,2 Meindert Griek died in 1929.2

His parents were Tjalling Griek and Pietertje Groot.1 Meindert Griek was a ship's rigger. On the ship manifests he is described as a birdman.3,4,5 Meindert Griek immigrated in 1916. He had several trips to the US before that, as a birdman for the company L Ruhr, 238 Grand Street, NYC. They always returned to the Netherlands on the same boat they came on. His contact in Holland is his wife M. Griek in Rotterdam in 1915, and his contact in 1916 is his wife P. Mastenbroek at 130 Bloomfield Street, Hoboken, Hudson County, New Jersey. In 1916 he sailed from London.4,5,6,7
