     Berent ten Bruggencate was born in 1728 in Almelo.4,1 He married (NH) Jenneken ten Bruggencate, daughter of Isaak ten Bruggencate and Aaltjen ten Getkate, on 29 Apr 1750 in Almelo5,1 (banns (NH) 11 Apr 1750, Almelo.)1 He died on 27 Jun 1794 in Almelo.5 He was buried on 17 Jul 1794 in the NH Cemetery in Almelo6 It seems illogical he would have been buried 3 weeks after his death.

He was a merchant, barge-owner.7

Landgericht, Almelo, 5 Jun 1755:
Berent ten Bruggencate, through Lawyer Hein, confiscated 2 barrels of tobacco, worth 1700 guilders, marked with the brand AB, as belonging to Anthoni Bruins from Tubbergen. These barrels were transported to Almelo, in the boat of Skipper Albert Kuiper, to be transported further to Tubbergen. In this way he wanted to get damages, because of outstanding debts for various merchandise, that were bought on credit and had been delivered during the year 1754. This case continues until at least 21 July 1756.8

Landgericht, Almelo, 20 Dec 1770:
Benjamin ten Bruggenkate, and his wife Janna Boom conveyed to Baerent ten Bruggenkate Benjzn, and his wife Jenneken ten Bruggencate, their half of four pieces of land, called the Aakamp, between the land of Jurrien Hagedoorn and that of Jan Boom Janszoon.9

Benjamin ten Bruggenkate, and his wife Janna Boom conveyed to Baerent ten Bruggenkate Benjzn, and his wife Jenneken ten Bruggencate, their half of two pieces of land, one located next to the garden of Hendrik ten Cate Hendrikszn, and the other in front of the garden of Gerrit ter Brake, that they had owned in common with Barent ten Bruggencate Isaaczn.9

Barent ten Bruggencate Isaaczn, and Jenneken ten Bruggenkate, his wife conveyed to Berent ten Bruggencate, Benj:zoon and his wife Jenneken ten Bruggencate and heirs, four pieces of land, called the Aakamp or Aagaarden.10

Barent ten Bruggencate Isaaczn, and Jenneken ten Bruggenkate, his wife conveyed to Berent ten Bruggencate, Benjzoon and his wife Jenneken ten Bruggencate and heirs, their half of a piece of land near the garden of Gerrit ter Braake, of which the other half already is owned by the buyer, and that they had owned in common.10

Jan Joesterman, and his wife Aele van de Voshaar took out a mortgage with Baerent ten Bruggenkate Benjzn, and his wife Jenneken ten Bruggenkate, with as collateral their quarter of the land called Klogermate, with the 2 pieces land that belong to it, of which another quarter belongs to the widow Hendrik Jan Bruins and a half to the daughter of the late Hendrik van Helderen.3

Jan Reekers, and his wife Janna Leus took out a mortgage with Baerent ten Bruggenkate Benjzn, and his wife Jenneken ten Bruggenkate and heirs, with as collateral their house and land.11

Albert Jansen Meulenbelt, and his wife Mette van het Holsbrink took out a mortgage with Baerent ten Bruggenkate Benjzn, his children and heirs, with as collateral a piece of land near the Koekoek, between the land of Berend van de Kooij and that of Arnoldus Kamerling. And a piece of land called the Puttenstukke, behind the land of Jan Bakhuis and in front of Swier Meulenbeld. Also a piece called the Bos stukke, behind Aa Geraats land and in front of Volkerinks Maat, as well as the Volkerinks stukke behind Jannes Meulenbelt's land and in front of the Grutters Maat.12

Landgericht, Almelo, 16 Nov 1777:
Jan Reekers, and his wife Janna Leus took out a mortgage with Baerent ten Bruggenkate Benjzn, and his wife Jenneken ten Bruggenkate and heirs, with as collateral their piece of land, next to the land of Barent ten Stokkelaar and Gerrit Hendriksen, that they have bought from Berend van de Weer, and of which they took possesion today, in addition to the house and land, that they used as collateral on 13 Feb 1777.11

Jan Reekers, and his wife Janna Leushuis took out a mortgage with Baerent ten Bruggenkate Benjzn, and his wife Jenneken ten Bruggenkate and heirs, with as collateral their half house with the land, at Sluijtersvelt, of which the other half belongs to Jan Hendrik Hendrikse. And a piece of land located in the Koecken, next to the land of Van der Aa and that of Gerrit Kremer. Also a half piece of land near the Weere, the other half of which belongs to Jan Hendrik Meijer from the Olde Weere. And lastly a piece of land behind Alberts Huijs, next to the road, next the land of Burgemeester Jolink, that they bought from Swier Meulenbeld.13

Landgericht, Almelo, 28 Sep 1781:
Abraham ten Bruggenkate, and his wife Fenneke Roelofs conveyed to Baerent ten Bruggenkate Benjzn, and his wife Jenneken ten Bruggenkate and heirs, a piece of land in the Bartelsgaarden, next to the garden of Claas Troost and behind the land of the buyer.14

Jan Joesterman, and his wife Aele took out a mortgage with Baerent ten Bruggenkate Benjzn, and his wife Jenneken and heirs, with as collateral their three quarter stake in the Petrus Maete, near Rouwhofs bridge next to Braakman's land.16

Landgericht, Almelo, 10 Nov 1784:
Baerent ten Bruggenkate Benjzn, and his wife Jenneken ten Bruggenkate conveyed to Claas Troost, and his wife Harmina ter Horst, a piece of land in the Aakamp, between a piece of land the sellers and a piece of Jan Boom's land; and also a corner of land in front of Gerrit te Brake's yard.17

Landgericht, Almelo, 19 Nov 1785:
Geetruij Bakker, and her brother, the Ed. Hendrik Bakker, the first with the second as guardian, conveyed to Berent ten Bruggencate, Benjzoon, his wife, children and heirs, their yard, with the shed in it, between the yard of Johannes Revius and that of the widow Jan Hendrik Boom.18

Albert Jansen Meulenbelt took out a mortgage with Baerent ten Bruggenkate Benjzn his children and heirs, with as collateral a half house, called the Gruttershuis, ocuupied by Gerrit Meulenbelt, a piece of land called the Hietveld, and a piece called the Geutjen, located near the Koekkoek.19

Landgericht, Almelo, 10 Oct 1787:
Egbert Vollenbroek, and his wife sold a piece of land called the Wobbenkamp, near the Sluitersveld to Berent ten Bruggencate, in a public sale.20

Landgericht, Almelo, 9 Sep 1790:
Baerent ten Bruggenkate Benjzn, with his children Benjamin, Aleida and Jan ten Bruggencate, and his wife Johanna ten Bruggenkate, with Jan ten Bruggenkate as guardian for Aleida and Johanna ten Bruggenkate conveyed to Berend Roulaar, a piece of land, by the buyer made into a garden, near the Aa, between the garden of Egbert Costers and that of Gerrit te Braeke.21
