     Stephen Miles was born on 5 Dec 1674 in New Haven, Connecticut.^2,1 He (1) married Mary Holbrook.³ He (2) married Patience Wheeler. He died on 27 Mar 1713 in New Haven, Connecticut.^4,1

Other information:

     It is unclear, whether Joseph is a son of the first marriage or the second. Patience (Wheeler) Miles became a member of the Milford Church on 1 Aug 1703, Joseph was baptized there on 31 Jan 1703. It seems possible that he was a son of the first marriage (mother Mary dying in childbirth in Jan 1703, father Stephen remarrying shortly after). However, if the January date is actually 1703/4 rather than 1702/3, he is definitely a son of Patience.⁵
     A note (Washburn Website) states "She (Patience Miles) was the granddaughter of Samuel and Hannah (Wilmot) Miles, of New Haven, CT." Find-A-Grave has Patience's parents as Stephen Miles and Mary Holbrook (no grave picture); New Haven Families and Wikitree have Stephen Miles married both to Mary Holbrook and to Patience Wheeler; Another wrinkle is that Barbour Collection (Derby) lists Patience Miles, daughter of Stephen b. 20 Sep 1704; Milford Church Records lists Patience Miles, wife of Stephen, admitted to the church in 1703, and Patience Miles, daughter of Stephen bp. 21 Oct 1705. These are birth vs baptism; but there are several date discrepancies.^6,7,3,8,9,10
