Johan ten Bruggencate was born on 12 Dec 1807 in Almelo.1 Johan was baptized (NH) on 20 Dec 1807 at Almelo.1 He (1) married Geertje Fransen on 5 Nov 1837 at Muiden.3,4,2 He (2) married Aleida ten Bruggencate, daughter of Albertus ten Bruggencate Gzn and Margaretha Bruijns, on 29 Oct 1845 at Almelo2 (banns 19 Oct 1845, Stad Almelo.)2 He (3) married Nancy Burkhardt c 1852 at New York.5 He died on 22 Dec 1877 in St. Johnsville, New York,6,7,8, and was buried on 25 Dec 1877 in the Prospect View Cemetery (Sect. 7, Lot 3** (last 2 numbers not legible.)9,7,8) An obituary in the Utica, NY Morning Herald on 25 Dec 1877.7

Johan travelled on 4 Aug 1847 on the ''Doggersbank'' to New York City with his cousin Thomas. They left from Amsterdam on the 'Doggersbank', and arrived on 4 Aug 1847 in New York City.15
