Increase Clapp was born in 1640.2 Increase was baptized on 14 May 1640 in Dorchester, Massachusetts, possibly due to the conflicts between his father and the minister of Weymouth.2 He married Elisabeth Bursley in Oct 1675 at Barnstable, Massachusetts.2,3

Increase Clapp and Elisabeth Bursley had five children: John (b. Oct 1676), Charity (March 1677/8), Thomas (b. Jan 1681, d. Jan 1683), Thomas (b. Jan 1684, bapt. 16 Mar 1684), Benjamin.2
He moved to Barnstable around 1660. Possibly he moved to Rochester, MA later in life.2
