John was baptized on 7 Nov 1614 at Ripon, North Yorkshire, England.2 He married Sarah Walker.1,3 He died on 27 Jun 1675 in Taunton (during King Phillip's war in an Indian raid). Another account puts his death at 3 Jun 1675 during the same conflict4, and was buried in the Tisdale Cemetery at Assonet.5

John immigrated b 1636 to the Massachussetts Bay Colony. He settled in Green Harbor.3
He became a freeman of Duxbury on 7 March 1643, and was appointed constable there on 4 Jun 1645.3
He moved to Taunton, Plymouth Colony in 1650, and he owned land on the Taunton River (in what is now Berkley). He was twice elected constable (1655, 1659), several times a selectman (1650, 1658, 1672-1675), and Taunton's representative to the Plymouth General Court in 1674. He served on a jury in 1650.3
Letters of administration of his estate were granted to his four sons John Tisdale Jr., James Tisdale, Joshua Tisdale and Joseph Tisdale.4
On 9 Jul 1689 Major William Bradley, son of William Bradley, Esq. deceased, gave a quitclaim deed to the inhabitants of Taunton, Massachusetts. They paid £20.- for it. John Tisdale was listed among the original purchasers.6
