On 22 Jan 1656/57 power of administration to the estate of the late Richard Hawes was granted to Major Humphry Atherton and Lieutenant Roger Clap, friends of the deceased. In 1662 the administration was transferred to Richard's son Obediah Hawes.1 Richard immigrated in 1635 on the 'Truelove' to Dorchester with his wife Anne and their children Anne and Obediah.1
Richard Hawes and Ann Hawes were admitted to the Dorchester church in 1637. Richard became a freeman in 2 May 1638.1
