Maria Amelia Buell was born on 4 Aug 1795 in New Milford, Connecticut.1,2,3 She married Alva Noble, son of John Noble and Lois Sexton, on 17 Aug 1814.1,4 She died on 27 Aug 1842 in Pennsylvania.1
Aside from the Noble Genealogy, Maria Buell and her parents have proved rather elusive. Buells originate in CT, and she is probably a descendant of William Buell (1610-1681), the Ancestor, who came from England, settled at Dorchester, MA., and removed to Windsor, CT in 1635, bought land there, married c. 1640 Mary (Post). William had two sons: Samuel and Peter. The descendants of Samuel (he married Deborah Griswold) are mostly known, the descendants of Peter less so. A great deal of work remains to be done here.1
She is listed in the following census:
1840 Fed. census (1 Jun): Household of Alva Noble, Damascus Township, Wayne County, Pennsylvania. Maria Amelia Buell was probably included in the Free Females 40-50 years of age.5
