     William Netherton was born on 1 Jan 1809 in Oldham County, Kentucky.2,1,3 He (1) married Elizabeth Chenoweth, daughter of Arthur Chenoweth and Elisabeth Edmonson, on 11 Jul 1838 at Bartholomew County, Indiana.1,2 He (2) married Mrs. Ellen (Giffin) Herrod Hann (She was married twice before 4,5. 6) He died on 26 Oct 1872 in Wayne Township, Starke County, Indiana.1,2
When William was about 22 years old, he went to Johnson County, IN to buy cattle. He remained there for some time, and then moved to Bartholomew County, where he met and married his wife. About 1852 the family relocated permanently to Wayne Township, Starke County, Indiana, where he owned 240 acres of land on sections 32 and 33. He build a log house which he improved over the years. He was a justice of the peace for some years, and held other local offices.7
