He is my son-in-law&#8217;s 9th great-grandfather.<\/p>\n<p>John came to the new world before 1640, he has a child baptized in Farmington, CT in 1642. It is unclear, which ship he came on; his wife&#8217;s family came on the &#8216;Increase&#8217; in 1635. Some sources say John came on the &#8216;Hercules&#8217; or &#8216;Increase,&#8217; but he is not found on the surviving passenger lists of those ships.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/archive.org\/stream\/rootgenealogical00root\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Root genealogical records<\/a>. 1600-1870, by James P. (pg. 314-5)<a href=\"http:\/\/dutchgenie.net\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/root.jpg\"><br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-859 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/dutchgenie.net\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/root.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"469\" height=\"330\" srcset=\"http:\/\/dutchgenie.net\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/root.jpg 469w, http:\/\/dutchgenie.net\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/root-300x211.jpg 300w, http:\/\/dutchgenie.net\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/root-332x234.jpg 332w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 469px) 100vw, 469px\" \/><\/a>While some sources claim that John was among the founders of Hartford, he is not listed on the <a href=\"http:\/\/foundersofhartford.org\/founders\/index.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Founder&#8217;s Monument<\/a> there, so he cannot have been there before Feb 1639\/40. It seems more likely, he went to Farmington shortly after coming to the new world, without going to Hartford.
