He was the son of IJsbrandt Moriau and Jeanne du Pire, and my husband&#8217;s 9th great-grandfather.<\/p>\n<p>IJsbrandt and Jeanne were Walloons; when they married in Amsterdam in 1617, he was from Valenciennes, she had lived in Middelburg, Netherlands, but\u00a0undoubtedly also was of Walloon ancestry. Here my husband&#8217;s and my son-in-law&#8217;s ancestry intersects, which is rather interesting. While so far there don&#8217;t seem to be any direct connections, these two branches certainly come from the same group.<\/p>\n<p>Pieter married Susanna Maillaert in 1641, the banns were registered 27 Apr 1641 in Amsterdam. His witness was IJsbrant Moreau, his father; hers was Judith Maillaert, whose relation to Susanna was not stated. Susanna was from Leiden; where in 1603 Jean de Forest and Anne Maillaert have a child David, the ancestors of the De Forests of Bergen County.<\/p>\n<p>Pieter and Susanna have five children baptized in Amsterdam in the Walloon Church, the witnesses are still a bit of a mystery, aside from his parents.
