Johannes Stolz was said to have owned, about 1720, a wampum factory, the
remains of which were discovered in 1916 in the vicinity of Waldwick-Midland
Park, just beyond the southwestern limits of Allendale.
A Petrus Sthols and his wife, Elisabeth, had a son, Hendrick Sthols bp.
23 March 1755 at Second River Ref. Church (now Belleville, NJ).
The name may have been written also: Shults, Schultz.
From The Minutes of the Board of Proprietors of the Eastern Division of
New Jersey (paraphrased unless in quotes):
----- (Vol. III, p. 306)...18 August 1756...lease for land at Romopock executed,
No. 188 to Johanes Shults of 119 acres at 12 s 6 per ann. for 3 years from

Jacob Stolts, who died probably about 1842, married Hannah Miller
(Henne).
Jacob Stolts, with 100 acres, 3 horses, 3 horned cattle was listed in the
1778 Franklin Township Rateables. Jacob Stolts, householder, was listed
in the Dec 1780 Franklin Township Rateables.
On a map of the Ramapo Tract, a lot of 60.8 acres is shown, with the date
of 30 January 1787, labeled "Jacob Stulls." The location of the
lot is in the area of present Wyckoff and Midland Park, east of Park Avenue.
It was possibly this Jacob and Anne Stoltz, of Franklin Township, Bergen County,
NJ, who on 1 Jan 1800 sold to Lodwick Megheler, of the same place, 15 acres for
£100.1.
An inventory of his estate was made in 1842.
