John Mickler was probably living in the vicinity of present-day northern
Midland Park, NJ by 1778. He may have been related to Johannes Mikkel (Mackle,
Mackly, Mecklie, Michel, Muckli), who married Anna Maria Kogh and had children
baptized in the New York Dutch Church in 1747 and 1751.

John Mickler, who d. about 1815, married Margaret -?- (Grietje).
John Mighler was listed in the 1778 Franklin Township Rateables (listed
just after Peter Thibow and just before John Vanblaricom) with 50 acres,
2 horses, 2 horned cattle, 2 hogs. John Michler was listed in the 1779 Franklin
Township Rateables (listed just after Charles Degrau and just before John
Van Blarcom) with 50 acres of land and 3 horses or cattle.
In his will, dated 12 Apr 1815, pr. 30 May 1815 (Bergen Co. B:33) he described
himself as John Michelar of Franklin Township and signed "Johannes
Maslor." In it, he left to son John all real estate, house & barn.
He also mentioned his wife Margaret; oldest son Lewis Michelar; daughter
Mary, wife of Myre Odle; dau. Elizabeth, wife of John Van Blarcom, Jr.;
dau. Margaret, wife of John Van Houten; dau. Sally, wife of Garret Earl.
Executors named were Jacob Van Ripen and John A. Van Vourhase. Witnesses
were Henry A. Hopper, Halmagh Ackerman, Jr., and Daniel A. Blauvelt.
