The Haring Family Burial Ground is located off Meadow Lane in Norwood, New Jersey.
The town has set aside a walkway to the small plot, and it is between the last two
house lots on the left side of the first block of Meadow Lane.

Comments:
Abraham is #64 on the Clifford Masten Haring Ahnentafel. His stone is made of
sandstone, does not photograph well. It has been carefully restored by Bob Carpenter
through a grant from Bergen County and generous private donations. The broken stone
that Budke saw undoubtedly belonged to Elizabeth Mabie, Abraham's wife.
David Petrus Haring, #16 on the Ahnentafel, was the grandson of
Abraham. His wife, Lydia Zabriskie, is #17 on the Ahnentafel. His
father, Petrus Abraham, was married three times and there is no reason not
to think that he is buried here as well as his first two wives. His third wife outlived
him by many years and is known to be buried elsewhere.
Peter D. Haring is #8 on the Ahnentafel and his wife Betsey Bogert is #9.
They built the house at 327 Tappan Road, which was beautifully renovated
by Tim Adriance and is lovingly cared for by Rich and Lee Williams. Betsey
was the creator of the quilt featured on her page.
The parents of Ruth and Bessie Hering are not known. There are several families
who used the spelling "Hering", and we would very much like to identify which
family these children belonged to.
Betsey and Peter D. Haring had a son Newton who died young and is undoubtedly
interred here.
David Peter Haring #4 died in 1875 and must have been buried here. Tragically
the next year two of his little sons died, George and Matthew. The estate he left
was very small, and they were surely buried in the family plot. His wife Catherine Bross Haring #5
died after the family burial ground was no longer used and is buried in the Tappan cemetery.

When some of this property, which originally had belonged to Abraham Jans Haring
according to the Zabriskie genealogy, was sold in 1785, ownerhip of the burial plot
was retained, and is described as being one square chain, which is 66 feet on each
side. The deed reads as follows:

This Indeture made this twenty second day of February Anno Domini One thousand
Seven Hundred and Eight five *.......of the township of Harington County of Bergen
and State of New Jersey yeoman and Elezabeth his Wife of the One Part and Lendert
Degraw of the same Place Carpenter of the Other Part Witnesseth that the said
John Haring and Elizabeth his Wife for and in Consideration of the Sum of four
Hundred and fifty two Pounds Currant Lawfull Money of the State of New York to
them Well and truly in Hand Paid by the said Lendert Degraw before the Sealing
and Delivery of these Presents the Receipt Whereof thay the Said John Haring and
Elizabeth his Wife Doth Hereby Acknowledge thereof and of every Part and Parcel

Abraham Jans Haring is #64 on the Ahnentafel, direct ancestor of
Clifford Masten Haring.
Leendert DeGrauw who purchased the property is Abraham's brother-in-law,
the husband of his sister Elizabeth Jans Haring.
The John Haring who with wife Elizabeth Blauvelt sold the property
is also the brother of Abraham Haring. This John Haring
married secondly Annatje Westervelt, widow of David Blauvelt, on
February 27, 1795 and made his will on March 7, 1795.
John Haring's first wife Elizabeth Blauvelt died September 4, 1794
and is buried in the Ramapo Cemetery; the second wife Annatje died
January 22, 1805 and is buried in North Schraalenburgh church yard.
John Haring's will was proved in 1802, at which time he lived in
Franklin Township, NJ.
