THE DESCENDANTS OF JAN PIETERSZEN HARING AND GRITIE COZYNS

Jan Pieterszen Haring was born December 26, 1633 as recorded in the Haring Family Notebook:

"John Haring the third Son of Peter Haring of Hornin of
North Holland was born the 26 day of December 1633 Anno
Domini and was Married on Whitsuntide 1662 to Margaret
Cozine a Widow the ceremony was performed in the New Dutch
Church on Stuyvesants Bowery New York

these were the first couple ever married in that Church
the said John Haring departed this life December the 7th 1683
his Widow the said Margaret afterwards became the wife of
Daniel DeClark She lived to the age of Ninety"

Grietje Cozyns was the daughter of Cozyn Gerritzen, baptized on May 5, 1641 in the Reformed Dutch Church of New Amsterdam as
"Parents: Cozyn Gerritszen  Child: MARGRIET"

Grietje married first on April 19, 1654, Harmen Theuniszen at the Reformed Dutch Church of New Amsterdam:
"Herman Theuniszen Van Zell in Munsterlt, en Grietje Cosyns Van N. Amsterd"

Grietje and Harmen baptized a daughter on February 24, 1658 at the Reformed Dutch Church of New Amsterdam: "Harmen Theuniszen,
Grietie Cozyns; VROUTJE"
It does not appear that this child survived.

Grietje Cozyns married second JAN PIETERSZEN HARING at Whitsuntide, 1662

Grietje Cozyns married third Daniel DeClark:
"Feb. 7, 1685 Daniel de Clerq, Wedr Maria de Moll en Grietie Cazyns, Wede Van Jan Pieterszen Haring, beyde woonende alhier, 14 March"

This translates as "Daniel de Clerq, widower of Maria de Moll, and Grietie Cazyns, widow of Jan Pieterszen Haring, both living here.
The February date is the banns date and March 14 the actual marriage date.

Note: DeClark and Grietje are included in a church census for 1686, implying that they had not yet moved to the Tappan Patent property.
