Strike of Warehouse workers in Almelo
Two men who worked for Mr. F. ten Braake Bzn. went on Tuesday afternoon to the warehouse of Mr. G. ten Bruggencate H. J.zn., tobaccocutter, with the request to loan Mr. Ter Braake two weights. A clerk of Mr. Ten Bruggencate pointed out the one weight, and asked one of the warehouse workers, where the other one was. He said he didn't know. Mr. Ter Braake's workers left, and returned a moment later with Mr. Ter Braake. They had to point out which man had said he didn't know where the weight was. Mr. Ten Bruggencate became so angry about the in his opinion faked ignorance, that he laid off two workers. The other workers then went on strike.
The strike ended Thursday, after the rehiring of the laid off workers.3
