     Geertruit Ernst was from in Almelo at her marriage.1 She married (NH) Harmen ten Bruggencate, son of Gerrit ten Bruggencate and Berendje ten Bruggencate, on 11 Feb 1767 in Almelo1 (banns (NH) 24 Jan 1767, Almelo.)1

Harmen ten Bruggencate and Geertruit Ernst with her guardian Barthold Sandtmann made a will on 20 Dec 1775.
Testator names as sole heir his children, namely Geesken ten Bruggencate, married to Jan Troost, Gerrit ten Bruggencate, Cornelia ten Bruggenkate, married to Jan Vikkers, Hendrika ten Bruggencate, married to Abraham Wanschers, Berent ten Bruggencate, Clasina ten Bruggencate and Abraham ten Bruggencate, or if they predecease him their children. He leaves his clothes, as well as his 3 waistcoats with the silver buttons, to his 3 sons Gerrit ten Bruggencate, Berent ten Bruggencate, and Abraham ten Bruggencate, to be divided into 3 equal portions. Testatrix names her husband sole heir, and leaves her clothes and ƒ200.- to her niece Aaltjen de Ruiter. Gerrit ten Bruggencate and Berent ten Bruggencate will get the house with the yard and the warehouse for the sum of ƒ2000.-, on the condition that testatrix, if testator predeceases her, will be allowed to live in the frontroom for the rest of her life, without having to pay rent.2
She presented Herman ten Bruggenkate G.zn's will for probate on 9 Feb 1778.2
Geertruit Ernst with her guardian Barthold Sandtmann made a will on 13 Mar 1778. She was the widow of Harmen ten Bruggekate Gerritssoon. She revokes her previous wills. She names as sole heirs her niece Aaltjen de Ruiter, married to Jannes ten Oever, and her nephew Adrianus de Ruiter, each for half. She leaves her clothes to Aaltje de Ruijter, and her silver clasp to Aaltje's daughter Geertruijd. She leaves her step-children Gerrit ten Bruggencate and Geesken ten Bruggencate each ƒ100.-. On 26 Jun 1780 she makes a new will: Aaltje gets her clothes, her cupboard, and the big bible; only her stepson Gerrit gets ƒ100.-.4,5

Geertruit Ernst, widow of the late Hermanus ten Bruggenkate, and Gerrit ten Bruggencate and his wife Geertruid ter Braake, Geesken ten Bruggencate, widow of Jan Troost, Jan Vikkert and his wife Kornelia ten Bruggencate, Berent ten Bruggencate and his wife Gerredina Schoenmaker, Abram Wanschers and his wife Hendrika ten Bruggencate, Lambert Vixeboxe and his wife Clasina ten Bruggencate and Hendrik Geuijkink and Derk Overbeek as guardians over his minor child by Jenneke Guijkink, together children and heirs of Hermannus ten Bruggenkate, sold a garden, between the garden of Otto Nijhoff and the stream to Hendrik Bavink Hendrikszoon, at a public sale.6

Geertruit Ernst, widow of the late Hermannus ten Bruggencate, with her guardian Gerrit ten Bruggencate, and Gerrit ten Bruggencate and his wife Geertruit ter Brake, Geesken ten Bruggencate, widow of Jan Troost, with Jan Vikkert as guardian, Jan Vikkers, widower of Cornelia ten Bruggenkate, Berent ten Bruggencate and his wife Gerridina Schoenmaker, Abram Wanschers and his wife Hendrika ten Bruggencate, Lambert Visseboxe and his wife Clasina ten Bruggencate, and also Hendrik Geuijkink and Derk Overbeek, as guardians over the minor child of the late Hermannus ten Bruggenkate, called Abraham, by his late wife Jenneken Geuijkink, together children and heirs of the before mentioned late Hermannus ten Bruggenkate conveyed to Hendrik Bavink Hendrikszoon, and his wife Joukje Jtskes Wouters, their garden, between Otto Nijhof's garden and the stream.7

Geertruit Ernst, widow of Harmannus ten Bruggenkate and Geesken ten Bruggencate, widow of Jan Troost, both with their guardian Berent ten Bruggencate Harmannus zn, Jan Fikkert, widower of Cornelia ten Bruggenkate, Berent ten Bruggencate and his wife Gerridina Schoemaker, Abraham Wanschers and his wife Hendrika ten Bruggencate, Lambert Vissebokse and his wife Clasina ten Bruggencate, and also Derk Overbeek and Hendrik Geuijkink, guardians over the minor child of Harmannus ten Bruggenkate and Jenneken Guikink, all children and heirs of the late Harmannus ten Bruggenkate, conveyed to Gerrit ten Bruggencate, Hermannus zn. and his wife Geertrui ter Braake, the house, in which the buyers are living, between the house of Tobias van Lochem and that of Dr. Heilbron.8

Geertruit Ernst was on 3 Nov 1778 occupied (or used by) een huis mag haar hele leven in de voorkamer blijven wonen, met vrije doorgang door het huis, zonder daarvoor enige huur te betalen.8
