Almelo Family Reconstructions

     Jan Hendrik Landhuis was born on 9 Feb 1809 in Ambt Almelo.^1,3,2 He married Hendrina Slaghuis, daughter of Berend Slaghuis and Janna van het Heilenhuis, on 1 May 1834 in Stad Almelo^1,2 (banns 20 Apr 1834, Stad Almelo.)¹ He died on 23 Dec 1879 at wijk 8, house #45 in Stad Almelo.²

He was a weaver (1834), storekeeper (1876.)^1,4 He lived at the time of his marriage since more than one year in Stad Almelo.¹
On 5 Feb 1809 the following baptism was registered: Hendrina, dau. of Jan Hendriks and Lamberta Landhuis. This looks like a very large error! At his marriage his age is certified by his friends.⁵ Jenneken Bennink (54 yr), R:Witness] (49 yr and 47 yr), Teunes Abbink (24 yr), Albert Ezendam (52 yr), Jan Heukes (66 yr), and Derk Tusveld (67 yr), the first, third and fourth farmers, the second ad sixth unemployed, the fifth a wheelwright, and the seventh a weaver, all living in Almelo, declare that they have known Jan Hendrik Landhuis from birth or early childhood, as the son of Lambert Landhuis and Hendrina Witvoet, when living farmers in Ambt Almelo, and that they know that he was born in Feb 1809 in Ambt Almelo, and that he now has an age of 25 years. The first witness kows this because she always lived next to his parents, and she has a son of the same age as Jan Hendrik; the second and third witness are full sisters of his mother, and the second witness was livig with his mother at the time; the fourth witness is the same age as Jan Hendrik and they went to school together; the fifth witness has a daughter the same age, and the sixth and seventh witness are uncles of Jan Hendrik (both were married to sister of his mother.)³
